What is a Point cloud survey?
Point cloud surveys use 3D laser scanners to capture a highly accurate digital picture of the dimensions and shapes of an exterior of a physical object, such as a building or piping system.
What is a Laser scanner?
A laser scanner is a measuring device that records geometric information about any object or surface within its field of view. The data collected is a dimensionally correct 3D representation of the immediate environment of the scanner.
How do Laser scanners work?
Laser scanners work by quickly rotating a laser beam to scan the environment, they accurately capture all of the details and dimensions of the surrounding structures. These can then be transformed into a digital 3D model that gives you an accurate, end extremely detailed picture of the area you are scanning. Modern scanners are capable of accurately recording up to a million angular and distance measurements every second.
Why choose us?
We use the very latest cutting edge laser scanners to perform all of our Point cloud surveys. Our experienced and trained staff can scan a plant or site to an accuracy of +/- 2mm. We then import it to ACAD/Plant3D (or other if preferred) and build our new design or modifications into it giving a detailed and accurate layout. The downloaded survey results provides exact piping tie in points and the model will provide the usual exports including fabrication isometrics. It also allows excellent visualisation / walk through capabilities to ensure operators and others are on-board before the build.
Why choose a point cloud survey?
